Academy360

Thank you for expressing an interest in the recently advertised posts for the new all through 4-16 Academy to replace the existing Quarry View Primary and Pennywell Secondary school in Sunderland.

The posts offer exciting and unique opportunities to transform learning and educational achievement, alongside our lead sponsors physical and social investment in the local community, creating new housing on a large scale, together with developments in employment, training, community empowerment, business and enterprise.

We aim to create an Academy that is as innovative and agile as the best organisations that operate in a rapidly changing and competitive world. This will be achieved by making a ‘New Offer’ to the students, their parents/carers, families and the local communities, based upon mutual respect and genuine engagement.

The Academy will develop a specialism in Business & Enterprise with Innovation at the heart of its ethos. It aims to reconnect students and their communities to the world of business, enterprise and employment and ensure that the students develop a ‘can-do’ culture that will enable them to make a positive contribution to their community and the world of work.

Staff in the Academy will develop teaching and learning approaches that focus on developing the spirit of enterprise and innovation. Students will respond positively to the challenges given to them, and will develop the confidence, self-belief and motivation that will equip them for their life and work in the 21st century.

The Academy will play an important part by contributing to the improvement of skills and educational attainment levels, as well as increasing the number of people with higher level creative and innovative skills.

We have a distinctive vision for the future and clear ideas that will translate our specialism of Business and Enterprise into reality. We have a passionate conviction that we will succeed.

The opportunity to create a ‘leading edge’ Academy in Sunderland is one that inspires us all.

We are looking for like-minded innovative dynamic and talented staff, experienced colleagues capable of helping us to build a staff team that can make a difference.

Starting a new Academy isn’t easy-in fact it’s tough! You will need energy and optimism to cope with a very demanding post. In return, we promise you a once in a professional lifetime opportunity to create a new Academy from scratch.

Together we will shape the future.

You need to be a person with convictions about improving the life chances of
our students for whom educational success is the only secure route to significantly better the quality of their future lives.

We are looking for colleagues who share our values and aspirations.

We look forward to appointing, supporting and working with the people to lead the Academy to success.
